You won’t believe what your mobile will do in the future

You won’t believe what your mobile will do in the future

IN 30 years since the first mobile phone went on sale weve seen it morph from a bank-breaking, basic brick into a slim super computer that can do anything from entertain to tell us what we should be doing next.
With the next-generation (and several generations after that) of mobile phone innovation already being tinkered with by engineers and scientists in hi-tech labs the future of the device is set to change at warp speed. Come with us as we look at what our favourite gadget could do in years ahead.

Mobiles were uglier back in the day but at least they could withstand a bashing. Recent years have seen a trade in resilience for beauty but the future will see a turnaround with unbreakable devices. Weatherproof handsets are proving a surprising hit with consumers calling for their precious phones to be made of tougher stuff. Manufacturers look to use the latest materials including scratch and shatter-proof ion-infused glass as well as liquid metal for cases, which is nigh-on indestructible as it bounces back to its original shape after being dented.
Modular mobile phones will hit the market whereby customers can buy a handset made from features they pick and choose to go on it. Theres already a project underway that will allow consumers to decide what their custom handset can do and what it will look like so you can create a phone that perfectly fits your needs. For instance if theres a phone out there that has a great camera but you dont need the whizzy other stuff, this modular approach could let you have the best of everything or let you cherry pick the bits that are important to you. Expect to see the pick n mix smartphones to shift the goalposts in the not-too-distant future.

With smartphone screens getting bigger and people spending more time on mobiles than any other device expect to see super-high resolution, cinema-quality displays rock handsets. A far cry from the monochrome, one-line displays of the 90s our eyes will be treated to full 4K screens (thats four-times the resolution of High Definition) right in the palm of our hand. This visual feast is only just reaching our living rooms today but mobile makers are already eyeing it up for our pocketable gadgets. We doubt mobile sizes will continue to grow at this stage (around five-inches seems to be the Goldilocks zone) but within three years a stunning 4K screen will be de facto.
If you think 4G browsing on your phone is pretty speedy today, just wait a few years and youll be blown away. The next-generation wireless mobile network could be quick enough to download a high-def movie in just 30 seconds. This also means it could make storage sizes obsolete as everything from your apps to entertainment could be accessed from the cloud within the blink of an eye. The infrastructure of this technology is being readied for a 2020 release.
The camera will evolve in our smartphones to do far more than your standard selfie. 3D technology using wide-angle lenses and sensors will be able to map your surroundings, meaning you could actually walk around inside your photos. Mobile cameras will understand and process the space around you and then remodel it in a 3D image. You could revisit old birthday party pictures, explore old holiday snaps or take a look around hotels, houses for sale or eBay items in great detail. The technology is currently being tested in projects in both mobile handsets and a larger system called Matterport, who worked on Microsofts Kinect sensor.

The fabled foldable mobile has been floating around almost as long as the flying car but breakthroughs in material technology in particular the super thin, super strong and conductive wonder material, Graphene will make this more than a crazy concept. There are already mobiles on the market that have a slight bend and weve seen manufacturers show off flexy displays at gadget shows but within ten years we could see mobiles that change shape to suit our needs and roll up right into our pocket. There wouldnt be a need for both tablet and mobile, or the decision of what screen size to go for imagine being able to unravel a screen to different sizes whether you want more space for browsing or less to just make a call. We know mobile makers are keen on this flexible, wrappable, mouldable, unbreakable form factor and research labs like the Human Media Lab at Queens University in Canada have already produced a primitive folding handset.

Batteries last about as long as an asthmatic in a sprint race these days but in the hi-tech future we could see our devices run for 20 years on a single charge. A team at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore have developed a titanium dioxide gel that is a dab hand at storing lithium ions in its nanostructure. In non-sciencey words: its very efficient at storing its charge. Of course, this Holy Grail of an everlasting battery is being chased after by many so there are other alternative battery technologies being developed. Theres a team in Korea looking to transform the heat generated from our bodies into electricity to power phones; theres also the idea of piezoelectricity which converts movement into energy so we could walk and charge; and researchers in California have made a tattoo that generates electricity from our own sweat. So it looks like the future phones power supply might be something we wont have to sweat about (literally).

If sci-fi films have taught us anything its that holographic floating displays will burst out of our mobile devices in the future. Theyre not wrong. A 3D screen materialising in thin air we can prod and manipulate is already in development from start-up Ostendo Technologies. Their Quantum Photonic Imager is a Tic-Tac sized projector unit that can beam a high-resolution image into the open like something from Iron Man. In ten-years time the technology would be finetuned to a point where were fully interactive with the floating screen we could watch sport play out in front of us, get inside maps and play games in a whole new way. And Tinder sure is going to be interesting .
Wearable technology is already trying to bridge the necessity to carry a phone and in years going forward we will see the physical handset disappear from pockets altogether. Just as the smartphone managed to evaporate the hardware of things like sat navs, MP3 players, wallets and to some extent watches and compact cameras, new smartwatches and smartglasses operated by spoken command will become the primary communications device to make the mobile vanish. If youre thinking wheres the screen?! it could be displayed on glasses lenses or perhaps that pill-sized holographic projector could unfurl it in midair for you. How do you take a selfie would be the next one to answer
3D holograms, anyone?

20-30 years
In twenty years well look back and laugh at how we once had to actually hold our phones to operate them. Going way beyond wearables, a smart contact lens could offer a device-free experience to display messages, web pages, directions and video literally right in front of your eye. A lens with basic computer circuitry is currently being tested, which contains sensors to alert diabetics to dangerous glucose levels. With nanotechnology having the potential to build robots the size of blood cells the prospect of developing computing components small enough to fit on a contact lens is a distinct possibility.
As the memory of clunky, manual mobile handsets fade into a world of invisible communication devices plugged straight into our bodies we will also see highly sophisticated operating systems that we can talk to like another human. Built-in personal assistants are becoming more intuitive knowing what we like, where weve been and what were doing. If our mobiles can already work out and tell us when to leave work in order to catch our usual train while reminding us to say happy birthday to Brenda on our way and warning us how many calories are in that biscuit before weve even eaten it can you imagine what else itll be able to do as this intelligence continues to grow? The movie Her does a great job of showing us how operating systems could evolve to a point where we can freely converse with the OS rather than the simple experience we know today. Forget asking if its going to rain, you can have full convos about the state of the weather. A computer has already managed to dominate the television game show Jeopardy providing complex human-like answers to questions. Some might find this petrifying but us technophiles cant wait. Artificial intelligence is coming so get your small talk ready.

Xperia Z5 smartphone worth buying only if you are a Sony fan

Xperia Z5 smartphone worth buying only if you are a Sony fan

The Xperia Z5 Dual is Sonys attempt to make a premium smartphone on the cheap. To that end, it falls flat. Upgrades like a beefed-up camera and a fingerprint scanner cant disguise the limitations of whats supposed to be a flagship device.
And when that device comes with a Dh2,699 price tag, thats a real problem.
The Z5s design is virtually identical to that of its predecessor (in the Middle East at least) the Z3+. Thats a problem, given that the Z3+s design was virtually identical to the Z3, which in turn offered only minor updates to the now 18-month-old Z2.

Even worse, the Z5 retains the uneven joins of the Z3+, its sharp edges giving its design a distinctly mid-range feel.
Also unchanged is the 5.2- inch full HD display, which is also starting to show its age in comparison with the likes of the iPhone 6S and Galaxy S6 range, but also with far cheaper competitors like the Huawei P8.
Those looking for a better viewing experience are advised to turn their attention to the 4K display of the Z5 Premium, retailing for Dh300 more.

One welcome innovation over the Z3+ is that the power button on the right-hand side of the phone now doubles as a fingerprint reader, allowing for easy unlocking of the handset without entering a PIN or swipe code.
The other major upgrade is the camera, with the Z5 offering a 23 MP rear camera, while retaining the 5.1 MP selfie snapper.
While the Z5 captures images with plenty of detail and nice bright colours, they arent significantly different to those taken with other devices to make the camera a key selling feature.

At the end of the day, the Z5 is only worth buying if, for some reason, Sonys handset designs still appeal to you. Despite the camera upgrade, it doesnt have the design or specifications to compete with the likes of Samsung and Apple, and at Dh2,699 its a far more expensive offering than excellent alternatives from Huawei and LG. For fans only.
        q&a no more underwater selfies
John Everington expands on Sonys new Xperia Z5 Dual:

I was just getting used to the Z3+. What about the Z4? Im confused.
It is a bit complicated. The Z3+ was indeed the last handset launched here in the UAE, but the same device was branded as the Z4 in Japan. Perhaps the Z5 will bring things back together again, or perhaps Sonys next flagship will take a leaf out of Microsofts book and be called the Z8. Well keep you posted.
Back to the Z5. What happens if I want a smaller phone or a sharper display?

Well, youre in luck. In addition to the Z5 Dual, theres also the Z5 Compact, which sports a 4.6-inch display and is available now for Dh2,299. More intriguing perhaps is the Z5 Premium, the first smartphone in the world with a 4K display, which will go on sale this month for Dh2,899.
Can I still use the Z5 to take underwater selfies?
Unfortunately not. After touting the Xperias underwater capabilities for ages, Sony has performed a volte face, and now recommends not using the camera in the pool. Its apparently still waterproof enough to survive having a cup of coffee spilt on it, though I thought it best not to test this.

              And how about battery life?
Sony reckons you can get two days of use off a single charge. While this is a tad optimistic, it gets through an entire day of standard usage comfortably enough.

After Buying A Domain Name Whats The Next Step In Starting A Website Should You Use Site Builders

After Buying A Domain Name Whats The Next Step In Starting A Website Should You Use Site Builders

Here are the two steps to going live on the web:
              1. Register your domain.
              2. Rent some server space.
As you already have a domain, we will jump to point 2 - Rent server space to host your website
When renting space on a server so that it can serve your website on the World Wide Web, it is often called hosting. Companies that provide this service are often called host or hosting companies. You can choose which type of hosting would you prefer: shared hosting, dedicated hosting, VPS hosting or cloud hosting.
Image result for After buying a domain name, whats the next
After you registered your domain, all you need to do it contact a hosting company and tell them you want to host your website and that you have a proper domain name. They will guide you through the process and you should be live on the web in no time! Some hosting companies do provide with a domain name too. You can ask them for more details if you need any.
              A cheaper option
Some people may not want to buy a domain or go for free hosting because they have just a personal website for fun or practice. You can still get your website live on the web by using a free hosting service that allows creating what they call a sub-domain. A sub-domain is just a domain that is part of another domain. In that case, your website address will be like, for example:
              www.5hoster.com/YourWebsite/
              Or it could be like:
              yourWebsite.5hoster.com
This is fine for fun/project websites, but if you are serious about your website (say its your business website) using sub-domains is like taking someone elses business card and writing your name on it! Also, there are security concerns.
One last point, Ive heard of free hosting services that will allow you to host proper domains with them for free and without annoying ads that other free host will insert into your pages. But Ive never used them, and in my opinion, you always get what you pay for.
              Choosing the Right Hosting plan
You should check out the following before choosing which plan to go for as per your requirement:
              1. Amount of web space
Image result for Amount of web space
This means how much web space the web hosting company will allow you to use for your web site. This can vary but usually starts at around the 100 megabytes mark, and can go all the way up to 1000 or 2000 megabytes. For all but the biggest web sites, 100MB is more than adequate. Some web hosting companies offer much more space they are able to do this because they know that the average web site comes in at less than 100 megabytes.
              2. Number of email addresses
              Related image
This means how many emails address the hosting company will permit you to have. For budget accounts, this is usually somewhere between 1 and 10 email addresses. Some higher-end packages permit say 250 addresses.
              3. Bandwidth (or data transfer)

This is a much-misunderstood measure, but it is really important if your web site starts to generate a lot of interest from web users. It means the amount of data your web site can transmit to web users. For example, if a web page in your web site is 10 kilobytes (about 1000 words on the page) in size, and one Internet user views it, you have used 10 kilobytes of bandwidth. If 10 users request that page you have used 100 kilobytes of bandwidth. Bandwidth is normally measured monthly.
Most small web sites will need under half a gigabyte of bandwidth per month. That means you can serve about 52,000 web pages per month (assuming the pages are an average of 10 kilobytes in size).
              4. Windows or UNIX?
Image result for Windows or UNIX
The last major differentiating factor between web hosting packages is the operating system. Just like your desktop computer (probably running Microsoft Windows or an Apple Mac OS), web servers run an operating system. Its the software that makes the computer go. There are two major types of OS in the web hosting world Windows and UNIX. The major variant of UNIX is called Linux.
For basic web sites, it doesnt really matter whether you choose Linux or Windows hosting. Your pages will work just the same whichever you choose. But for more advanced users it pays to make the right choice.
Which OS to choose comes down to what you want to do with your web site. For example, if you want to install certain apps such as WordPress then you need to know which OS the app runs best on. Here are some examples:
Apps that run better on Linux:
              WordPress blogging system
               Magento shopping cart
               Joomla website building software
Apps that run better on Windows:
              Umbraco website building software
               nop commerce shopping cart
               BlogEngine.net blogging system
But almost all the Linux apps can also run on Windows!
Moving your web site files onto the server
Image result for Moving your website files onto the server
After you have your domain name registered and your hosting service in place, the last step is to upload the website to the server. You can transfer your website to your hosts server using an FTP program.
An FTP program is a type of software that is used to move files from one computer to another over the Internet. FTP is the acronym for File Transfer Protocol, this just means that this is a way of moving files. There are several free FTP programs you can use to move your files onto the server, and many HTML editors and web design programs like Dreamweaver have FTP capabilities built in.
One option you probably have to FTP your files to the server is Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer 5 and up have an FTP program built right in and you can use it by just typing in the FTP address of the server in the address bar preceded by the keyword: FTP. Here is an example:
              http://ftp//192.99.204.1/yourweb.

Best Way To Browse The Web?

There are a number of candidates for the title of ‘Best Browser’, but what should you look for in a browser. Well there are 3 simple categories to judge each other against; Speed, Security and Features.
              • Speed – How fast can you get online and surf the web, though this can depend on your computer.
              • Security – Browsers need to be able to protect you against things like viruses, phishing frauds and pop-ups whilst allowing you to keep control of your personal information.
              • Features – How easy is the browser to use whilst offering the option of add-ons to customise your surfing experience.
So let’s look at them in descending order.

              • Security – Due to IE’s popularity with users, there have been a lot of security breeches in the past. A simple web search will be able to show hundreds of stories about known vulnerabilities over the years, and it’s not clear that Microsoft has resolved them all.
              • Features – Explorer is fairly straight forward to use and Microsoft has seen that add-ons are becoming more popular with users and have started offering more features to include with newer versions of their browser. Explorer isn’t however compatible with macs though.

iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5 you have to watch your choice – iPhoned nl

              <-! Mfunc include_once(/var/www/nliphonedwwwghan/wordpress/current/wp-content/plugins/ad-injection/adshow.php) ->

The iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 are currently the most popular smartphones on the market. On many fronts, the devices differ from each other, but they also have the necessary agreements. In this comparison, we show what to look for in your choice of the flagship Apple or Samsung.

The choice of Android or iOS can be quite a tricky , especially if you do not have a strong preference for one of the two platforms. Android has always been adaptable and open while iOS operates safer, smoother and easier, according to many. There is certainly something to be said, already starting platforms increasingly resemble each other. Nevertheless, there are some differences between the new iPhone and the attractive, high from Samsung, the Galaxy S5. Next we go on there in

              Design:. Waterproof or premium

In the field of design districts appliances from Apple and Samsung quite apart. The Galaxy S5 has a slightly larger 5.1-inch screen and is dust and water resistant. That has implications for the dimensions. The S5 is indeed huge and thick, but with 142 at 72.5 by 8.1 millimeters, it is longer, wider and thicker than the iPhone 6 The Apple phone is 138 by 67 by 6.9 millimeters relatively compact and a lot thinner. He is also 16 grams lighter, despite the materials used.

              iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5

Where the S5 consists mainly of plastic, the iPhone 6 just made of aluminum. The Apple device therefore feels more premium, although he will not survive. Plunging into a toilet bowl Plunge the Galaxy S5 for a long time in the water, there will be no damage occur to the internal hardware. Both phones will not survive a fall from a few feet, but the water resistance of the S5 is definitely something to take away. Within your consideration

However, If you prefer a thin and light phone that is as period feels like it actually is, then it’s best to go for the iPhone 6 Hecht you much value to a dust and waterproof case, then the Galaxy S5 the more sensible choice. Shock Damage to the S5 through the use of plastic also less likely to see

              Screen:. Who has the best

The screen of the iPhone 6 is 4.7 inches something? smaller than that of the Galaxy S5 (5.1 inches), but the difference is quite noticeable. For us, they are both not too big and it’s just what you prefer. See you lots of videos and you can read many (long) articles on your smartphone, then a screen of at least 5 inches is recommended. Are you lot and your smartphone is in your pocket all day, then a display of around 4.5 inches probably nicer. The iPhone 6 we find to handle just a little better and will be for people with smaller hands finer in use.

              iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5

The bigger the differences with respect to the resolution puts the iPhone it off in that area. The Galaxy S5 has a 1080p resolution means photos, videos and texts super sharp eyes. In addition, the Samsung smartphone using a super-AMOLED panel, which tremendously bright and contrast, even in direct sunlight. The color splashes off the screen and that is an IPS panel – where the iPhone 6 using – a lot less.

Both displays have excellent viewing angles, but because the iPhone has a screen resolution of 1334 by 750 pixels, for example text on a website zoomed less legible. The iPhone 6 screen is all but out of focus, but the pixel density is considerably lower than in the case of the Galaxy S5 (326 ppi vs 432 ppi). In addition, IPS screens in the open generally less easy to read.

On the question of who has the best screen, we also answer a resounding Galaxy S5. Especially when you consider that the display thanks to the super AMOLED technology is more energy efficient. Moreover, there is an additional power saving that various background processes off and makes the display monochrome, so you can use a battery percentage from a few percent for hours ahead

              Camera: more or less. Megapixels

              iPhone 6 Camera

Creating Depth is with the camera of the iPhone 6 piece of cake.

Both Apple and Samsung provide their top models usually excellent cameras and this is no different. the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 In this area, avoiding the smartphones together barely. Though the iPhone 6 still has an 8 megapixel camera, the device is equipped with a new sensor with larger pixels. Lets make in low light situations better pictures. The camera very fast focus and tapping on the screen, you can easily shift the focus for quick photography, he is perfect:. if you have the new iPhone in your pocket gets, he is ready to shoot snapshots

The camera of the Galaxy S5 shoots. photos in a higher resolution (16 megapixels), but this does not necessarily mean better. because the pixel size is smaller, the camera performance in low light situations is something less. The camera app has more features than the iPhone, which is both an advantage and disadvantage. You can tweak a lot of options, but the camera is not as fast to use as the iPhone 6 The autofocus is a bit slower and less extensive slow motion function. The Galaxy S5 does have the advantage that you can shoot in 4K, but there are as yet few users something

              Software:. IOS or Android

iOS and Android since their introduction changed greatly, but also start to appear. becoming more alike Both offer widgets, keyboards from third parties, a notification center, quick settings and a huge range of apps. Most popular apps are free to find. Both the App Store and Google Play With both the iPhone 6 as the Galaxy S5 can multitask, though Samsung offers the opportunity to actually show.

               iOS 8

The Galaxy S5 also offers more options at your hand to turn the interface though which overwhelm. the number of possibilities For novice users, iOS also easier own. Do not have an obvious choice is made, it is smart to extensive testing with both platforms

               Android

iOS and Android both have their advantages and disadvantages. What you should also take into your consideration is whether you are using Apple’s ecosystem (iCloud, iTunes, Safari) or Google (Gmail, Google Drive, Chrome). A transition from one system to another is often quite substantially and in some cases means that you have to look for alternatives to specific apps and services. For paid apps is that you have to download them again, so keep that in mind

              Hardware:. Fast, faster, fastest

Whether you go for the iPhone 6 or the Galaxy S5 , you get anyway a smooth smartphone at home. If you look purely at specs, then the Samsung phone prevailed. The device has a 2.5GHz quad-core processor on board and twice as much memory (2GB). Both smartphones are available with a minimum of 16GB of storage, though you can also buy the iPhone with 64 or 128GB of memory. That’s good to know since the storage unlike the S5 is not expandable with a micro SD card.

              iPhone 6 sales record

In everyday use, the iPhone 6 despite its dual-core processor is anything but slow. Because software and hardware perfectly matched, the unit comes shortage anywhere. The interface is extremely flexible and frequently used apps start smoothly. Even with the graphical power of the new iPhones is it mustache thanks to Metal technology, which makes games more efficient to deal with the available hardware. The result is that more objects can be without any hitches are noticeable. At the same time displayed on the screen The Galaxy S5 thanks to the Adreno 330 GPU suitable for gaming. This device works tremendously smooth and barely falters, even if you are running many apps at the same time.

              Galaxy S5-review-2

What battery life is concerned, the smartphones similar. The iPhone 6 has a more powerful battery than its predecessor, which guarantees a half to two days of use. The battery life of the Galaxy S5 is approximately two days with average use, though you can stretch the battery life quite well thanks to the low-power mode mentioned earlier. With this mode, the image is black and white and avoid unnecessary processes stopped. This allows you with a battery percentage from a few percent for hours ahead

iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5:. Conclusion

iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5 Although the choice of a Galaxy S5 or iPhone 6 in areas such as design and the interface comes to taste, there are a number of key factors which one device is better than another. Dual Lens SmartPhones can be the Latest Trend Do You Want One

According to the leaked images of the forthcoming HTCs M8 smartphone, it has one camera but two different lenses that can bring some mind boggling imaging features that goes far beyond imagination and mere 3D.

A new startup technology known as Corephotonics, Which is a new concept for smartphone makers focusing on dual-lens. Accorsing to companys representatives, they are on the verge to finish a specific module in M8 and they were much anticipated in showing their modules strenght of image quality.

The technology is "Corephotonics", which uses two lenses with two different focal lengths. The first lens is at broader-angle, and the other is at 3x zoom, thus it can easily be switched to magnify more distant subjects without switching to digital zoom.

HTC M8: What More To Expect?

While testing the device as shown in the video above, The comparison of dual-lensese one-by-one using a smartphone camera, the Corephotonics system generated an image of 13-megapixel regardless of whether it is at 1x or 3x zoom.

Nokias PureView camera rely only on digital zoom technology generating a 3x magnified image creating a drop in resolution. Corephotonics software provides real-time images by matching each pixel from one lens with the corresponding pixel from the other lens, and it also detects that which pixel is closer to real-time.

If all this things go successfully, then we will have a technology with real promise and thats it explains why HTC has drilled an extra hole in the back of M8.
