4 Ways to Make Your Rooted Android Phone Run Faster

4 Ways to Make Your Rooted Android Phone Run Faster

Yesterday we saw 5 useful ways in which a user can speed up his non-rooted Android phone. As we already mentioned that a rooted Android device always has an extra edge over the devices that are not rooted, the former is bound to have some added tips using which you can make the device even faster.

So lets have a look at the additional 4 ways in which a user can speed up his rooted Android device.
Note: All these tips require skilled hands. If you have no idea about rooting Android phones and installing custom patches, its better to stick with the tips we mentioned for the non-rooted phones. Dont blame us if something goes wrong with your device in the process.

1. Use App2SD app with Root Support.

By default, many apps come with the feature of App2SD by default. What this feature does is that it moves few files of an app to your phones SD card and creates a symlink to the files on the ROM. Using this feature you can free up some memory on your ROM to increase your phone performance but unfortunately, this feature of App2SD is not available on all the applications by default.

However, if you have a rooted phone, you can move any app to and from the SD card using dedicated apps for the purpose. DroidSail Super App2SD (ROOT) is one such app that can help you with the task.

2. Use Overclocked Kernel

By default, an Android phone is set to work on a specific CPU clock frequency, and its governed by the device kernel. There are many Android developers who develop their custom kernel that supports overclocking.
If you install a kernel that can be overclocked, you could increase your device CPU clock by a few megahertz and make your device run faster.

3. Use Custom ROMs and Keep them Updated.

When you open and run a factory-sealed phone, it comes with a stock ROM. These stock ROMs are developed keeping in mind the masses, and thus they always have a lot in them that you never use. Custom ROMs, on the other hand, are developed by an individual or a team that uses the stock ROM framework, optimizes it and makes it faster and more scalable.
You can find these Kernels and custom ROMs for your phone on the Android XDA Forum if at all your phone falls in that category.

4. Uninstall Bloatware

By default, some apps come preinstalled with your stock ROM that you dont need. Now in ICS, a user has the privilege to disable these apps, but if you have an Android phone that doesnt run ICS yet, you could still uninstall these system apps and free up some space on your phone memory using a third-party app.

Titanium Backup is one of the best apps that can help you with that.

Conclusion

So try out these tips, including the five we mentioned before for non-rooted phones to make your Android phone run faster. If you have some additional tips you would like to share with us, the comments section is the best way to start a discussion.

Have you ever bricked  your MediaTek android phone before and just need to get your hands on a stock ROM for your device type? If yes, then this guide will teach you on how to create a stock ROM for your device if you have a friend that has the same device as yours.

I have done a stock ROM backup for a brand new Tecno S3 smartphone: the download link will be provided at the bottom of this post.

Requirements
1. Download MTK Droid Root & Tools v2.5.1 here

2. Windows PC

3. Rooted MediaTek device. (you can root with eroot if the device has android 4.0 and above)

Procedures
1. First thing is to root your MediaTek Android device

2. Second step would be to download and install the MTK Droid tools

3. Now connect your rooted phone to the computer and let it be detected by the MTK tools

4. Note the colour at the bottom of  the droid tool. It has to be green. if its not, click on Root located at the bottom right of the MTK page.

5. It will prompt you, OK it and let it gain su access.

6. Click on root, backup and recovery tab and click on the big Backup button

7. Wait for it to begin the backup process which can take up to 10 - 15 minutes depending on your computer speed.

8. After backup is created, it will ask  you if you want to pack it to a zipped format. Click yes

9. Wait a while for the packing to finish.

10. When its finish, you can navigate to the folder where the backup is stored for use at anytime you please.

I hope this guide helps someone out there. I will writing a post on how to unbrick your MediaTek smartphone soon so stay close to this blog

Samsung to reportedly drop Windows notebooks in 2015 will only make Chromebooks

It seems Samsung is ready to give up on Windows notebooks, if a report by Digitimes is to be believed. According to their sources at a Taiwan-based supply chain, Samsung will no longer release conventional Windows based notebooks from next year.

So will it be dropping out of the notebook business altogether? Not quite. The report also states that Samsung will switch to only making Chromebooks from 2015. Samsung already has one model on sale right now and many more will be coming in future.
This move comes after Samsung failed to meet its own goal for notebook shipments in 2013. The company had planned on shipping 17 million units when it actually only managed around 12 million. Now, the company has set a goal of just 7 million for the year 2014, according to the same sources.
Whether the move to Chromebooks will be beneficial to Samsung or not remains to be seen. The Chromebooks do seem to be doing relatively well at the low end of the market while Windows 8, on the other hand, not being the success that Microsoft expected. For someone like Samsung, it makes sense to skate to where the puck is going to be, rather than where it has been.
