You might have heard or read about Android Rooting or Android Root. There are many misconceptions about android rooting. Some say it is like Jailbreaking in Apple iOS, some says it is difficult and only testers and developers should try these thing.
Im here to clear there misconceptions and to tell you what android rooting is and what it is for.
What is android rooting?
Rooting is the process that allows an Android OS user to attain privileged access or root access on their android devices. Android OS is Linux based operating system and rooting gives similar access to administrative permissions as on Linux and such operating systems.We can root our Android devices to overcome system limitations set by device manufacturers, alter or replace system applications, run apps which requires root permissions, modify current firmware(rom), and install a new custom firmware or latest Android versions.
Rooting and jailbreaking
Rooting is often compared to jailbreaking Apple devices running iOS. These are quite different concepts. Jailbreaking is performed with a locked bootloader to bypass several Apple prohibitions, to install external apps and modify system while rooting is performed with an unlocked bootloader to get privileged access to install apps and modify system.What changes rooting does on your system?
Though there are different methods of rooting for different devices, but usually they exploit firmwares one or more security bugs to skip the digital signature check for updates. Then a modified firmware update can be installed which usually have utilities to run root apps. Such as the su binary can be copied to the path /system/xbin and granted executable permissions by chmod command. 1. Download and place the Root Package archive on your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the archive to your Desktop.

5. Double-click on the run.bat file you extracted from the archive.

Asus Zenfone Selfie ROOTING
In this tutorial we are going to see How to Root Asus Zenfone Selfie. Read this tutorial Properly then only go for next step.
Files to be Download :
- Zenfone Selfie Pre-Rooted System.img, Boot.ing, Recovery.img ( Click Here to Download )
- Download Flash Tools ( Click Here to Download )
Note : There is 2 folder in the Firmware folder. 1 is full which includes all ZenUI apps and another SLIM which Dose not have ZenUI apps but you can Download apps from play-store latter.
Instruction to Flash :
- Download FlashTools and Extract it in Desktop Or Anywhere you can
- Download SYSTEM Files ( System.img.7z.001 to System.img.7z.007 and extract it Using 7ZIP or Winrar Software.)
- After extraction you can see a single file named as "" System.img "" Now move it to FlashTool Folder which you have extracted in Step 1
- Download Next 2 Files ( boot.ing and recovery.img ) to FlashTool folder Which you have extracted in Step 1
- TurnOff Zenfone Selfie and Boot into Recovery Mode ( Power Button + vol UP )
- Now connect zenfone Selfie to Computer / Laptop Using a Proper USB cable
- Now go to FlashTool folder and then Open Command Window there ( Shift + Right click at FlashTool Folder and then --> Open Command Window Here )
- Now Enter the Command Written Below
*fastboot flash boot boot.img
*fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
*fastboot flash system system.img
*fastboot oem reboot-reovery - Now Wipe data/Factory reset
- Finished !!
Note 2: After Doing this You cant update your updates Phone, You have to ADB Side-load your Original Firmware to Get Updates.
