Google Chrome On Its Way To iOS

Google Chrome On Its Way To iOS

Its seems that Googles Chrome isnt just making its way over to Android, an iOS version will be available as well. The new app will arrive for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users and will introduce elements such as incognito browsing, syncing and tabbed browsing. More than likely there might be a few changes from the Android version, but more than likely these changes have more to do with integration into the Android platform, after all, Apples app rules make it clear that Google cant use its own WebKit rendering engine tweaks or change the default browser in any way.

We do know that syncing will work, and will allow browser settings across multiple devices when theyre signed in using their Google credentials. What this means is that you can start browsing in Windows, open a few tabs and then log into Chrome on your iDevice. When you start Chrome all the same tabs will be open and ready.

Beyond the announcement of Chrome, it seems that Googles Drive storage, which allows storage and sharing of documents, will also now work with iOS. By adding Chrome and Drive to iOS, Google hopes to create a more uniform experience for all Google web apps and features across all platforms from Windows to OSX and iOS, and of course Android.

While it isnt out yet, it sounds like Chrome will arrive sometime later today.

Its Sunday Photo 02 of the Week

Its Sunday Photo 02 of the Week

Yakuza Kiwami PS4

All the in-game graphics were redone for PS4. And Im not talking about doing up-rezzes of existing art, oh no. Graphics were completely redone for the 1080p/60 frames per second PS4 environment, and boy does it show. The audio lines were re-recorded by the original cast (in Japanese). Astute fans may recall the US version of Yakuza being the only Yakuza game with a well-intentioned English dub, but given the complexity and uniqueness of the yakuza dialect, Kiwami exclusively has the original Japanese voices, re-recorded with the experience of the many Yakuza games since 2005!You like combat? Boom! The combat in Yakuza Kiwami has been upgraded to the fast and (For legal purposes I cant include the word I want to here, but it starts with an f and rhymes with curious) combat style of Yakuza 0, where Kiryu can change stances on the fly to chain together combos and pull off the outrageously satisfying Heat Actions the game is known for!Substories! Finding substories (side missions) has become commonplace in the generations since Yakuzas release, but were a bit obscure or difficult to find back in 2005. Thats been fully revamped now, with a clear delineation between the critical path missions and some of the quirky off-shoots of the main story.Majima Everywhere. This is literally the best thing ever. Majima, the one-eyed, mad-as-a-hatter psychopath of the Yakuza series takes on the role of the protagonists sworn nemesis. And to punctuate that in Kiwami, theres a new system where he pops out of the most random of places for impromptu encounters. Im talking pops out of a manhole levels of ridiculous, which is what makes it so great.

Its Thursday App Review of the Week 02 Tower of Saviors

Welcome to our second In Depth Review of the week : Tower of Saviors (Free)

Introduction

It is a strategic puzzle card game created by the Hong Kong Studio, Madhead. It is massively inspired by the Japanese game Puzzle and Dragons, but it is only available to North America and Japan.

There is a possibility to link your account to your Facebook one or Twitter which will save your progression in the cloud. So you can resume your game while changing devices (Smartphone to Tablet) or when upgrading your latest Smartphone.

The game is a massive hit and just reached 7M of downloads and just hired Taiwanese actress, Michelle Chen to represent the game.

Basics

The game world is divided between 7 worlds and there are 5 elements with a paper/scissor/rock logic :
- Fire beats Nature
- Nature beats Ice
- Ice beats Fire
- Dark beats Light
- Light beats Dark

There is one territory dedicated to each element plus a special challenging area (various challenges changing everyday) and the main tower which concludes each chapter.

Among the different possibilities of the game, you will be able to change your team composition :

Every 10 levels, you will be afforded a second team composition, so you can adapt depending on your opponent.

In your inventory, you can choose how you arrange your cards (HP, attack, etc...). You can also check each cards profiles and then level them up or make them evolve after reaching the max level.

Game Mechanics

Before each game, you need to choose an ally to complete your team. So you will be controlling 6 cards instead of 5 and it will act as if it was part of your team.
More often than not, you will be offered to partner up with very powerful allies and after a while (~ 5 hours), you wont be able to win fights (unless youre grinding) without such allies.
At the end of each stage, you will be able to make a friend request if the chosen ally wasnt one.
Each successful completed stage will award you 10 Friend Points if your partner is a friend and 5 otherwise.

Battles consist in aligning 3 blocks of the same color. There are 5 different colors representing each elements plus Heart stones which allow you to heal yourself if you sustained damage.
Each turn, you can choose one block and drag it on an unlimited distance but in a limited time frame (somewhat around 5 seconds or less). While moving your stone, you will move others as well and making combos : aligning several 3 blocks or more. The more you make combos, the more damage you will inflict on your opponent.
If you align 5 stones or more of the same color, you will be awarded a super stone on your next turn.

At the end of each stage (from 3 to 7 battles), you will be awarded new cards and experience.

In order to participate to a stage, you will need to invest Stamina Points. When you level up, all you Stamina Points will be restored.
At the beginning and even after a while (~ 10 hours), you wont need to spend money in order to restore your Stamina Points.

Game Store

The game currency is Diamond except for Friends Points which can give your a card for every 200 Friend Points.
1 Diamong will be awarded to you when you complete a full level consisting on defeating 5 stages and the main tower. So far, I have spent 5 free Diamonds to extend my inventory and the need to pay hasnt manifest itself yet.
The friend list is limited to 50 but I havent reach the limit yet either.

Those are the prices of the Diamonds :

Verdict

This is must have for every strategic puzzle game fan. It is a complete free game and it will be a while before paying for anything especially if youre not a ultra heavy gamer. I play around 30 to 60 minutes everyday which is already quite something and I have not spent a single penny so far.
On top of that, the game is Adsfree.

Its Thursday Weekly App Selection 05 by PhonAsia

Lets start with 2 games this week.

Army Truck Driver (Free)

Army Truck Driver looks like a lot Trackmania. There are currently 2 racetracks in which you need to collect every available ammo and 3 stars to get the max score.
The racetracks are really well designed with crazy curves, uphills and downhills "roads" (you will see that there will not often be standards roads out there).
Yes, you will drive a truck but the physic is much more like a very light kart, you will need to drive carefully if you do not want to get a reverse truck (very easily done).
It took me almost 45 minutes to get access to the second racetrack without 100% completing the first one. Every racetrack try is about 2 minutes length, so it is a nice fail and learn game which is free.

Star Wars : Force Collection (Free)

This is the official Star Wars Card Games made by Konami. It is a very classic card games, no innovations whatsoever. You collect cards, form a deck, make a card formation during your turn then the battles happen.
It is pure fan service app and it is targeted towards Star Wars fans since getting famous characters cards with insightful informations is the most valuable aspect of the game.
Unfortunately for me, I am a Star Wars fan, the game would have been fine but there are still so many loads time related to the network crippling the game that it can spoil the whole experience for you.
Anyway, feel free to try and give us your feedback.

Misc Apps

TuneIn Radio (Free)

Tunein Radio is the ultimate radio app that broadcast channels through your data network (either your data plan of via Wi-Fi). Search a song and find which radio is playing this song, search you favorite channels or just browse the channel list.
It is easy, it is free and if you do not have a built in Tuner FM, then this is a must have app.

Vine (Free)

If you do not know about Vine, now it the time to really read this and download right away this app. Vine is the official built in video service of Twitter. It allows you to make up to 6 secs mini-movies and share them on Twitter.
The video format is ideal for the intended service and align itself with the 140 characters limit.

Comic Rack (Free)

Comic Rack is the best comic reader out there. I have been using this app all holidays long and if you are a comics fan, it definitively should be your app.
It is smartphones and tablets optimized and adjust to every screen size. It supports CBZ and CBR natively.
It can synchronize to the Comic Rack PC software (itunes like) and download all the comics from your desktop into your device. Plus, after the synchronization, you will add CB7, CBT, PDF, DJVU and WebComics support on top of the 2 native format.
A paid version exits too at 5.99 €, it removes all the ads and adds a wireless synchronization with the PC Comic Rack software.

Eyefi announces cloud service for its Mobi cards

Eyefi announced a private cloud service specifically for its Mobi SD cards. Eyefi cards have built-in Wi-Fi modems in them so they upload photos over the Internet even if your camera can’t. Anyway, with Eyefi Cloud photos will be uploaded and synced to any of your connected devices.
Even if you use multiple cameras everything will be synced in one place. This is both for cameras with Eyefi Mobi cards installed and for smart devices with the app installed.

The cloud part of the service keeps photos private but lets you share them with select contacts. They will be notified when new photos are available. The original images will be uploaded to the cloud so you’ll have an untouched copy even if you lose your camera or card.
Photos will be downloaded on all connected devices so that they are available offline too. You can review and curate the images, the changes will get synced when the device reconnects (this will give you something to do on the plane ride back home).
Eyefi Cloud works with Eyefi Mobi cards (8GB/16GB/32GB) and you start off with a three month trial period. After that it’s $50 a year though the company didn’t specify just how much cloud storage you’re getting for that.

XiaoMi sold its first 100 000 HongMi Red Rice phones batch in 90 seconds and even more

We told your earlier this month that XiaoMi partened up with China Mobile and QQ to make a special event offering the very first HongMi in China Soil on August, 12th.

Well, everything is already sold out in 90 seconds, I didnt have the time to breath, it was so fast.
But even more impressive, the pre-orders just reached 7.45 millions for the budget phone HongMi which forced XiaoMi to revisit its annual previsions, the Chinese Smartphone firm wants to sell 20 millions devices from the old expectations of 15 millions.

PhonAsia is glad to be part of such a ambitious project and still offer the HongMi for pre-orders in our shop.
Be careful about the 3G network which works only in China using the TD-SCDMA technology only available in China.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 confirms part of its specifications in AnTuTu

Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is starring in many news lately but their appearance in AnTuTu is perhaps the most juicy as it allows us to confirm some of its features such as the 5.5-inch QHD screen. The Samsung Galaxy S6 starts to get ahead of your competitors and increasingly know more Korean News from the terminal, if the tradition is fulfilled, will be presented at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.

Until then, all we have is conjecture and occasionally as today, some information outweighs going forward us your specifications. In particular, and as usual, it is through performance tests AnTuTu from which we can see part of their characteristics.

The truth is that some cause some confusion, beginning with those attributed to your screen. AnTuTu indicated from the terminal, with the SM-G925F code would wear a QHD 5.5-inch screen (2556 x 1440 pixels). This is the same as the current Samsung Galaxy Note 4 both in size and in resolution. Let’s wait then view the details of the range of phablets next year but may, in its effort to cut costs and reduce the catalog, Samsung is planning to standardize and unify both families of terminals to focus on a single product, since this Galaxy S6 also would have a display model “Edge”.

Samsung

Returning to the data AnTuTu offers, would also be present the Exynos 7420, something that had already commented. It is logical that the first tests of Samsung Galaxy S6 are being made with the chip itself 64 bits since it seems that the Snapdragon 810 passes through some trouble to go into production. Also take 3GB of RAM and a camera with 20 megapixels for the rear and 5-megapixel on the front.

Finally, although as in other times is expected to arrive with different capacities of internal storage, the screenshot we at least confirms the variation of 32 GB and that, if there was any doubt, come now with Android 5.0 Lollipop installed with TouchWiz 3.0, software that is about to reach current terminals of the company.
