Samsung Galaxy Note8 final specs detailed dual cameras 6GB RAM and more

Samsung Galaxy Note8 final specs detailed dual cameras 6GB RAM and more

Samsungs upcoming flagship the Galaxy Note8 will be unpacked on August 23. Evan Blass recently shared the press shots of Galaxy Note8, and now he has revealed "final specs" of the flagship. There is no surprise in the specs sheet, and is line with what earlier reports and rumors claimed.

Most of the specs are same as Galaxy S8+, but the Galaxy Note8 will get a slightly larger footprint and display, 6GB RAM, dual-camera setup and the signature S-Pen with improved functions.

The dual-cameras is said to consist of two 12MP sensors: a 12MP wide-angle lens with f/1.7 aperture and dual-pixel auto-focus + secondary 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 apeture and 2x optical zoom. Both lenses are optically stabilized. The camera on the front will be an 8MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture.

The main body of Galaxy Note8 will be IP68 certified for water and dust-resistant same as Galaxy S8+. However, it will sport 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display, slightly larger than Galaxy S8+s 6.2-inch screen. The screen will have curved edges, with minimal bezels on top and botton and will boast QHD+ (1440 x 2960 pixels) resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Note8 will get more squared off corners instead of Galaxy S8+s rounded ones. The physical dimensions will be 162.5mm x 74.6mm x 8.5mm, which will make it 0.4mm thicker than the Galaxy S8+.

Just like Galaxy S8 line, the Galaxy Note8 will come in two processor variants: one with Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform for the US market, and Exynos 8895 for the rest of the world. It will pack 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and get microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Other specs include fast-charging 3300mAh battery, USB Type-C port, and rear mounted fingerprint scanner. Lastly, at launch, the Galaxy Note8 will be available in Midnight Black and Maple Gold, followed by Orchid Grey and Deep Sea Blue color options. The Galaxy Note8 is rumored to carry a priced tag of 1000 Euros ($1000 | Rs. 77,000).

Infinix Alpha Marvel X502 Detailed Hands On Review

We have spoken about the Infinix Alpha Marvel smartphone recently and now its officially available for purchase. its expected features were talked about which were not far at all from the real thing.
Today, we had an opportunity to lay our hands on the Infinix Alpha Marvel (X502) smartphone and it was splendid using the device.

The X502 didnt go too stray from the leaked specifications and we are giving you a hands - on review just after the break.

The Infinix Alpha Marvel which we shall refer to as X502 from now on is a 5 inch touchscreen device with gorgeous screen display and comfortable feel to the hand. Even though it has an all metallic finish to it, its quite light in terms of weight compared to the Infinix X570 that was released about 2 months ago.

On purchase, it comes bundled with a flip case along with the phone and its accessories.

Dimension, weight and casing
The X502 has a dimension of 147 x 72.1 x6.98 mm and a weight of 0.56w/Kg. Consequently, it feels so light when holding one in your hand. One thing that caught our attention was that instead of the usual Volume Key to the left and Power button key to the right, this time around, both  buttons are situated at the left side of the phone with the power button just below the Volume buttons.
The direct implication of this is that, it would be much easier to power off/on the device without first accidentally pressing the volume key as in older designs.

Finally, the USB port and earphone jack is located at the top part of the phone as against the bottom which we have seen for the Infinix Alpha. Furthermore, 2 mics are embedded on the device, one at the bottom and the other at the top side, close to the camera for a better audio quality. The loud speaker is located at the bottom back of the smartphone, its louder than the X507 due to X502 larger aperture and its of excellent quality.

SIM And Network
X502 is a single SIM smartphone. The macro SIM tray is at the top-right side of  the phone. SIM is inserted by ejecting the SIM tray with a metallic tray ejecting pin, the SIM is placed on the tray and then inserted into the phone; just like the iPhone.

It supports 3G: 850/2100MHz and 2G: 850/900/1800/2900MHz network bands and transfer data in the 3.75G technology

Camera and Resolution
Talking about camera, the X502 gets a 13MP AF BSI rear facing camera which churns out a beautiful picture when used. There is a flash attached to the side of the camera so that pictures can be taken at night. The image below was taken with the X502 rear camera with flash in a small medium lighted room.

The front facing camera is 5MP BSI and of course, those Skype and video calls would be splendid. Both cameras performed well when put to the test especially alongside  a picture taken with a Galaxy S4. The Alpha Marvel (X502) camera is better than the Alpha (X570).

Screen Display and Resolution
X502 is a 5 inch touchscreen smartphone with resolution of 720 x 1280 (294PPI), which is not bad at all for a medium budget phone of 5 inch. It would be good to state that the Moto X comes with the same resolution (312PP1) but appears shaper due to its smaller screen display (4.7").

X502 is not a Gorilla screen smartphone like its elder brother the X570 but it comes with a screen guard to protect its screen from scratches and the likes

Operating System and Processor
In terms of operating system, X502 comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 and with a very different icon UI than the others weve seen. The UI is almost looking like that of Galaxy S4. Althoug, it can be changed to any one you prefer with the help of the Theme Style app; we kinda love the default one.

Speaking of processor, the X502 comes with a huge 1.5GHz Quad - Core MT6589T Cortex-A7 more advanced processor than the MT6589 found in the Infinix Alpha (X507). This MT6589T processor performs task so efficiently when we put it to the test. The speed at which everything responds was very good and significant. Its one of the plus this device has.
Also, the GPU IMGSGX544 on the MT6589T runs at 357MHz while  that of MT6589 runs at 286MHz. Consequently, better performance would be noticed on the Infinix Alpha Marvel.

Memory and RAM
We just love it with when a device doesnt give us unnecessary bad surprises. Thank God the X502 came with a 1GB RAM and not 512MB. Although, the rumor was initially that it was gonna come with 2GB RAM, however, the 1GB RAM is capable to do things it should do since we are talking of a very stable Jelly Bean OS.

Also, Infinix decided that the X502 should have an in-built 16GB memory with no SD card slot for expansion just like the Infinix X570.

Gaming Experience
Seriously, gaming on this Infinix X502 is superb. Not only does it handle the HD games well without lag, most games that are not supported on the Infinix 570 are all supported in the Alpha Marvel.

Of course, the turbo MT6589T processor with its GPU are the guys that makes this Infinix Alpha Marvel play game better than the Infinix Alpha.
For example, I have tried hard to install Call of Duty and Dead Trigger 2 on the Alpha (X570) it wasnt installing due to compatibility issues. However, immediately I search for the same games on the Alpha Marvel, they showed up immediately and were compatible. That being said, Dead Trigger 2 is now supported on X570.

The bottom line is that gaming on the Alpha Marvel is splendid

Battery and Performance
The X502 comes with a good non-removable 2500mAh battery capable of keeping the phone alive for a substantial amount of time, keep things running and everyone is happy. Furthermore, after using the device for 1hr, we didnt notice any kind of hotness, which is a good thing. Its important to point this out because some folks have history with some old Infinix devices getting abnormally hot during use. This isnt the case with Infinix Alpha Marvel.

Sensors and Connectivity
Iinfinix Alpha marvel has G, Light and Proximity sensors, which are the norm in most smartphones today. Also, Bluetooth 4.0, AGPS, GPS, WiFi and WiFi Hotspot are connectivity features of this device and of course a FM Radio to listen to those local FM radio stations

Pre - Installed Apps
The device comes pre installed with apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, Google Play, Email, Camera 360, Flashshare, YouTube and a System Update app. Also, additional menus are included in the system settings  which are not present in the Infinix X570 (alpha) smartphone.

OTA Updates
Naturally, Infinix devices dont come with OTA updates capabilities. However, what I noticed was that there was an icon with System Updates as the icon name. It doesnt necessarily mean that OTA updates are supported, however, it means that just like the X570, when ever Google push out minor system updates, the Infinix X502 will get those updates too.

Price TagThe price tag for this smartphone is N40,500 from Jumia Online store and if you use this coupon code: OFFA0Zn you would get it for less than N40,000, which is not bad for a device of this good build and quality. You guys know how much Samsung or HTC will ask for a phone of this same build. So we are actually very impressed with the price tag.
It can be purchased presently at slot stores, Park N Shop, Micro Station Mushin and many other stores in Nigeria.

Conclusion
Is Infinix Alpha Marvel a great smartphone? Hell yea! Is it better than the Infinix Alpha? The difference is slight. However, it depends on individual preference for big screen, processor speed and dual sim devices. Aside that, the Infinix Alpha Marvel is a better device in terms of processor type/speed and camera quality.
