Q: But all the others have..
A: ROM developers, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they wont run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we dont include (or dont want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: What about root?
A: Actually this version of OCT-N uses embedded root acccess which can be enabled in development settings.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.

Basic Instructions:
- Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favorite Open Gapps package http://opengapps.org
- Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM --- - Factory Reset from TWRP
- Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files
- Reboot

How To Root Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL Z00ED Marshmallow
How To Root Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL Z00ED Marshmallow
Asus Zenfone 2 Laser Ze500kl/Zooed Marshmallow Root Requirements:
- Your phone should be on marshmallow below WW_13.1010.1612 version for this root process
- Custom Rom TWRP | Download Here
- Bootloader Unlocker Zip | Download Here
- SuperSu Zip | Download Here
- ADB & Fastboot drivers | Download Here
- Asus Drivers | Download Here
Here in this process, You are doing the following things:
- Installing the ADB & Fastboot Settings on your PC
- Installing Custom Recovery TWRP via fastboot
- Unlocking your phone with the help of Bootloader Unlocker Zip via TWRP
- Flashing supersu zip via TWRP custom recovery.
Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ze500kl Marshmallow Root Process:
- First of all download all the above file and connect your Asus zenfone 2 laser ze500kl/zooed marshmallow to PC via USB Cable
- After connecting to PC via USB, Now send Bootloader Unlocker & superSU zip into your Phone
- Now Place ADB, Fastboot & TWRP files in a single folder & Install ADB, fastboot & USB drivers
- After the ADB setup simply click on shift+right click mouse and select CMD
- in CMD now type adb reboot bootloader & press on enter.
- Now your phone will boot into fastboot mode & again type adb devices and check if it shows your phone ID or not. If it shows then you are good to go. if it didnt show then make sure you install your phone drivers properly.
- Now you need to boot custom recovery TWRP into your phone. simply type fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2.0-Z00E-MM.img.img and hit enter. it will take 5 seconds and reboot into custom recovery TWRP automatically.
- Now you need to flash bootloader unlocker zip via TWRP. (flashing unlocker zip means you are unlocking your phones bootloader which means your warranty is gone)
- Now you need to flash Supersu.zip again via TWRP. simply select suspersu from TWRP, slide the slider to the right to flash it & you are done.
- After the installing of Supersu is finished simply clear the cache & reboot your phone.
- After reboot, you will see Supersu app installed on your phone. thats it. you have successfully rooted your phone Asus zenfone 2 laser ze500kl/zooed marshmallow
My conclusion:
- Make sure you boot TWRP, If you flash TWRP then you will brick your phone.
- Make sure your phone model is below mentioned marshmallow version. if yes then this method will work if no then this method wont work.
- Make sure you flash unlocker zip before flashing supersu, if you dont then you brick your phone.
- If you want to unroot then simply flash your phone version stock ROM. thats it.
- I suggest you to read each & every step carefully & understand it clearly before you root your device.

Instructions :
- Marshmallow bootloader is a must!!
- Update stock rom to latest (UL-ASUS_Z00E-WW-13.10.10.44-user) - preferably
- Unlock bootloader
- Install custom recovery
- Download the latest build and gapps (arm64)
- Reboot to recovery
- Full wipe (system/data/cache)
- Flash the latest build and gapps
- Updating rom (no need to clean flash if from same rom for ex. LineageOS >> LineageOS) - reflash any mod if any
- Reboot

Flashing Instructions:
[SIZE="4"][B]To install this ROM you will need to have a latest custom Recovery such as TWRP installed.
- Copy the downloaded ROM to your phone.
- Boot into your recovery
- Back up your ROM
- Enter recovery
- Make a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik)
- Install the ROM
- Install GAPPS package
- Reboot - the first boot can take up to 5 minutes

- What is XOSP and how was it born?
- XOSP stands for the Xperia Open Source Project. The project was initially created by me @nilac) for the Galaxy S+ (my old device) years ago. Back then the ROM was called S+ Reborn. The vision was to create a minimal bloat free ROM which included Sony Xperia specific apps and various tweaks users would expect from a custom ROM.
S+ Reborn became a success and was eventually ported to different devices so from there I rebranded and XOSP project was founded. I worked on the project for 2 years always trying to improve it. Eventually, Because of the fact Lollipop was buggy on my Galaxy S+ (Which I maintained xosp for at the time) I decided to take a break from development until I got my hands on the Zenfone 2 in 2015 and from then I started again the development of XOSP and continued it ever since.
