Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 concept shows of bezel less design

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 concept shows of bezel less design

Xiaomi has already confirmed that it will launch the bezel-less Mi MIX 2 smartphone before the end of this year. Like its predecessor, the Mi MIX 2 will be designed by French designer Philippe Strack. And now the designer has shared a concept video of the phone, which is most likely a prototype, and the final design would look different.

The video shows that Mi MIX 2 will have even more slimmer bezels than its predecessor Mi MIX, especially at the bottom. The Mi MIX had a screen to body ratio of 91.3 percent, but Mi MIX 2 is said to boast 94 percent screen-to body ratio.

Even though the bottom bezels of Mi MIX 2 is trimmed down, it still houses the camera sensor. The absence of the earpiece suggests that the phone will most likely utilize Cantilever peizoelectric ceramic acoustic system instead of standard earpiece, just like Mi MIX. The video also shows USB Type-C at the bottom, along with two speaker grilles.

Earlier reports have suggested that Mi MIX 2 will have curved AMOLED display instead of Mi MIXs LCD display, and the sensors for fingerprint scanning will be embedded under the display. As for the hardware, the Mi MIX 2 is rumored to comes with Snapdragon 835 processor, up to 6GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, dual-camera setup (2 x 16MP sensors), 13MP front camera and 4500mAh battery.

The Mi MIX 2 is expected to be unveiled sometime in October.

Micromax to launch near bezel free smartphone on August 22

Micromax to launch near bezel free smartphone on August 22

Micromax is the latest smartphone maker to join the bezel-less design craze. The company has scheduled an event on August 22 to launch its latest smartphone with minimal bezels and more screen space.

Smartphones with bezel-less design are growing in popularity. Companies like Samsung, LG, Andy Rubins Essential, Xiaomi and Chinese device maker have come out with such smartphones. Just few days ago LG launched the Q6 with minimal bezels in India priced competitively at just Rs. 14,999, allowing users to experience the trending design at a budget.

Micromaxs new phone will be part of the companys new Infinity series, and the invite show the device with a curved glass on the front, along with curved edges. The top bezel houses the front camera and ear piece. Theres nothing placed in the bottom bezels, so the fingerprint scanner will most likely be rear-mounted. Overall the front design looks similar to LGs G6.

According to reports, Micromaxs upcoming bezel-free smartphone will have 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio, instead of the regular 16:9 ratio and utilize Qualcomms Snapdragon chip.

Micromax, once the top player in the country,  has been struggling in the smartphone market for the past few years, due to strong competition from China brand especially Xiaomi, who fill four position, in the top five smartphone vendor list in the country. A phone with bezel-free design, Qualcomm chip and aggressive pricing, could help Micromax to make some impact, and make a come-back in the mid-range segment.

Besides, the bezel-less Infinity series phone, Micromax is also gearing up to launch a new member of the Evok line up, dubbed Evok Dual Note, and it will have dual-cameras.
