Sharp to unveil bezel less Aquos S2 on August 8 in China

Japan based electronics company, Sharp, was one of the first brand to bring bezel-less smartphone to the market, and it claims to launch 29 such phones. However, all of them are exclusive to home market of Japan.

Now Sharp is all set to bring a bezel-less smartphone to the global market. The company has announced that it will introduce the bezel-less Aquos S2 at a global event in Beijing on August 8. Interstingly the device seems like a clone of Andy Rubins Essential Phone.

Sharp says that the Aquos S2 will have a 5.5-inch display with no bezels, offering a screen-to-body ratio of 84.95 percent, and users will fell like they are holding a 5-inch phone.

The entire front panel is bezel-free, and Sharp says it was able to achieve this using FFD (Free form display) technology, and made small holes precisely in the screen for front camera and receiver. Also the fingerprint sensor is embedded under the display.

Dr. Luo Zhongsheng, CEO of SHARP/InFocus Mobile, said: "The core of full screen design is to break through the technology limit, achieve the double sense of holding and visual comfort, and provide the ultimate experience for users."

According to reports the Aquos S2 will have 5.5-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 630/660 Mobile Platform, 4GB or 6GB RAM, 12MP/8MP cameras, and run Android 7.1.1.

The Sharp Aquos S2 will go on sale in China starting August 14.
