THE PILGRIMAGE PAULO COELHO
The Pilgrimage (Portuguese: O Dirio de Um Mago, "Diary of a Mage") is a 1987 novel by Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho. A parable that explores the need to find ones own path. In the end, we discover that the extraordinary is always found in the ordinary and simple ways of everyday people. Part adventure story, part guide to self-discovery, this compelling tale delivers the perfect combination of enchantment and insight. It is a recollection of Paulos experiences as he made his way across northern Spain on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.

THE FIFTH MOUNTAIN PAULO COELHO
THE FIFTH MOUNTAIN PAULO COELHO
The Fifth Mountain by Paulo Coelho was published in 1996 and was his fourth major publication.
The story is based on the story of Elijah from the Hebrew Bible (1 Kings chapters 17-19). The focus is on Elijahs time in Zarephath (in this book named Akbar). Much has been added to the simple Bible story by Coelho, including Elijah witnessing the sacking of Akbar by the Assyrians, Elijahs journey up the Fifth Mountain itself (said to be the dwelling place of Baal), and Elijahs falling in love with the widow to whom God sent him.
This story may be considered religious in focus, despite a strong focus on the theme of rebellion against God. In this book, Coelho has explored the manner in which the prophetic questioning of authority, rebellion and liberation, and thinking for oneself are important in ones relationship with God and ones life work.
At the same time the novel is a powerful metaphor of human self-confidence and strong desire for self-fulfillment by helping other humans. The protagonist finds ultimately the strength to overcome all misfortunes in himself - in his deeply human desire to help the others and to be creative. And he finds out that God is in his own heart.

ELEVEN MINUTES PAULO COELHO
ELEVEN MINUTES PAULO COELHO
Eleven Minutes (Portuguese: Onze Minutos) is a 2003 novel by Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho based on the experiences of a young Brazilian prostitute called Maria, whose first innocent brushes with love leave her heartbroken. At a tender age, she becomes convinced that she will never find true love, instead believing that "love is a terrible thing that will make you suffer.... When a chance meeting in Rio takes her to Geneva, she dreams of finding fame and fortune yet ends up working as a prostitute.
As Maria drifts further away from love, she develops a fascination with sex. But when she meets a handsome young painter she finds she must choose between pursuing a dark path of sexual pleasure for its own sake, or risking everything for the possibility of sacred sex; sex in the context of love. Eleven Minutes is a gripping and daring novel, which sensitively explores the sacred nature of sex and love, inviting us to confront our own prejudices and embrace our "inner light".

THE VALKYRIES PAULO COELHO
THE VALKYRIES PAULO COELHO
The Valkyries is a 1992 novel by Paulo Coelho. The book is autobiographical, but told from the third person. It deals with the exorcism of personal demons and discovering ones strength. It also deals with relationships among people, in this case, Paulo and his wife.
The plot involved Paulo going to the Mojave Desert to meet "the Valkyries" themselves, a group of warrior women who travel the desert on motorcycles.
At the beginning of the story, "J", Coelhos master in RAM, shows him a copy of the poem by Wilde that says "we destroy what we love" and this theme is central to the story.
A story about Paulo and his wife as they embark on an adventure to find his guardian angel.

ALEPH PAULO COELHO
ALEPH PAULO COELHO
In this autobiographical account of what Paulo calls at few places in the book as Journey back to my Kingdom, he writes about his experiences through his journey of personal discovery. This is one of the most personal novels written by Paulo.Aleph, as described in the book is a place where time and space converge.
In this book, Paulo writes about the journey he undertook between March and July 2006.
Between March and July 2006, letting himself be guided by signs, he travelled to various continents Europe, Africa and Asia on a journey through time and space, through past and present, in search of himself.
The novel starts with Paulo talking to his Master about the dissatisfaction in Paulos life and the stagnation of his spiritual growth. As per the suggestion from his Master, Paulo sets off onto a journey starting from Africa, and then to Europe and Asia via the Trans-Siberian Railway. Most of the novel or rather the book describes about the authors experiences during the train journey he took with his publishers and a girl whom he meets in the journey.
Paulo also talks in length about love and forgiveness. If you do not believe in reincarnation and related theories, then reading this book is not a good option for you.
If you have never read Paulo Coelho before, I would say you start with his other books; either The Alchemist or The Zahir will be a good starter which I have already posted in the blog.
If you believe in reincarnation and related theories, you will enjoy reading this book.
Aleph is a really good read if you are a fan of Paulo Coelhos previous books.

THE ZAHIR PAULO COELHO
THE ZAHIR PAULO COELHO
The Zahir is a 2005 novel by the Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho. Just as in an earlier book, The Alchemist, The Zahir is about a pilgrimage.
The book touches on themes of love, loss and obsession.
This book was written in Coelhos native language, Portuguese, and it has been translated into 44 languages. The book was first published in Iran, in Persian translation, by Caravan publishing. Iran has never signed any international copyright agreements. By being published first in Iran, the book falls under the national copyright law of Iran. This copyright measure created an unusual situation where a book is first published in a language other than the authors native language. However, the book was banned in Iran a few months after its publication, during the 18th Tehran International Book Fair.
The story has strong autobiographical features, but is intended as a work of fiction.
